Mission
Kettle Kinship builds brighter futures & stronger communities by engaging caring citizens to enrich lives of local youth through mentoring relationships.
Having been a mentor for Kinsmen, a program with roots in the Luther Seminary, Lee Dybvig of Sandstone Minnesota, knew firsthand the
impact mentoring has on mentees and mentors as well as the potential impact on the whole community. Lee was the spark of enthusiasm'
and determination that launched the Minnesota affiliate, Kettle Kinship, off the ground. After an initial informational meeting
about the youth mentoring program, Kinship, was held at Grace Lutheran Church in Sandstone, Minnesota where Lee organized a steering
committee that eventually evolved into the first official Board of Directors of Kettle Kinship in April of 2003 and Lee became the
first chairperson. The steering committee and Board of Directors met monthly in the Dybvig home until December of 2006.
There were five initial matches made at the end of 2003, with three of those relationships still meeting in 2007.
Thanks to Lee
Dibvig's hard work and dedication, Pine County has a mentoring program with a vision to engage caring citizens throughout Pine County
